Fair honors Ushers’ service

The Effingham County Fair Association held a banquet at New Ebenezer Retreat Center on Monday evening honoring Charles and Victoria Usher for their years of service to the county fair.

“The Effingham County Fair, there’s no doubt in my mind, would not maybe exist if it wasn’t for these two people, the hours they’ve put in, their dedication,” said current fair manager Jim Simmons. “A lot of people talk about having a passion for something; they both have a passion for the fair, and we hope that will continue.”

Charles Usher retired from the Fair Association after serving as fair manager for 16 years from 1994-2010.
