The Effingham County Fair officially begins on Monday, October 20, 2014 with the annual parade through the town of Springfield. This parade will be followed by the opening day ceremonies at the Fair Grounds, located just south of Springfield, on Highway 21 – adjoining the Methodist Camp Grounds.
The Parade lineup will begin at 4:30 P.M. The Band will assemble on Madison Street. Official cars will assemble directly behind Effingham County High Band. Then all floats, decorated units and other marching units, will line up along Madison Street back to the Old Springfield Elementary School. Any horse entered in the parade must have a negative Coggins test on board the rider throughout the entire parade. NO 4-wheelers or go-carts allowed in the parade. Only properly licensed motorcycles with licensed drivers will be permitted.
The Parade begins at 5:00 P.M. and will proceed from Madison Street down the main street of Springfield to the Fair Grounds. Disband in auxiliary parking lot behind Farm Bureau Office.

Carries out fair theme (0-25 pts.);
Well organized (0-25 pts.);
Neat & Attractive (0-25 pts.);
and Colorful (0-25 pts.)
Note: The Effingham County Fair Parade Committee with Jim Simmons, Manager, invites and urges all businesses, clubs, and organizations to
enter floats, cars, and other units in the parade, which will require a permit from City Hall or website.. The success of the parade depends
largely upon the number and quality of the units. We wish to make this the best fair parade ever.
