On behalf of the 2013 Effingham County Fair Committee, we would like to express a special “thank you” to The Honorable Barty Alderman, Mayor of Springfield, GA. He was selected by the Fair Committee for his many years of service and support of the Effingham County Fair.
Barty is a native of Effingham County. He is the son of the late Alonzo (Lonnie) and Naomi Alderman who were fair committee members for 40 plus years. He has been married 25 years to the former Joyce Greene of Beaufort, SC. Also, he has been a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield, GA.
He received his education from the Effingham County Public Schools, Middle Georgia College and the University of Georgia. Barty is a member of the President’s Club, University of Georgia and a Charter Member of the University of Georgia Heritage Society.
Barty retired from GA Pacific Savannah River Mill after 25 years in the Logistics Department. Also, he recently retired from the State Appeals Board Selective Service System.
Barty has just been re-elected to third term as Mayor of Springfield, GA.
